CONTINGENCY

Contingency for setup = Delay.
Contingency during event = Move to building.
Contingency for takedown = Wait for dry weather (unless tent is reused immediately).

Let’s pray in Jesus’ name we won’t have to use any of these plans!

  • Wind is the greatest threat, followed by rain and extreme temperatures.

  • If severe weather hits during the event, the contingency plan is to move services to the church building.

  • Volunteers should be stationed at the tent site to redirect guests.

  • Use maps, QR codes, or printed directions to get people to the new location.

  • Though it's sad to leave the tent, God can still move powerfully indoors.

  • Setup can continue in most conditions: rain, heat, or cold.

  • Wind is the only dealbreaker because the tent is unstable until all poles are up.

    • In high winds, setup will be postponed until the next day.

    • Buffer days are built in: typically arriving Tuesday for a Friday launch, allowing for flexibility.

  • Wind is not a major problem for takedown.

  • Rain is the biggest issue — the tent cannot be packed away wet:

    • A wet tent develops mildew, and bleach cannot be used for cleaning.

    • If it’s raining on takedown day, expect a full-day delay to allow for drying.

    • Exception: If the tent is heading immediately to another event, it can be packed wet (since it will reopen in hours).
