PRE-EVENT QUESTIONS

Learn the WHY, WHEN, and WHERE of Tent Revival!

There is a big reason we don't stay in the building, and it revolves around your city! Let's work together to see your region experience the greatest revival in history!

A tent revival is not just another program or a nostalgic outdoor service to add to your church’s calendar. In fact, it’s one of the least traditional events you’ll ever host. This is an evangelistic revival designed to impact your entire region , spark a spiritual awakening in your community, and forever change your church. Here’s why you should consider it:

  1. Reach the Unreached
People will come who face barriers to visiting a traditional church. Whether it’s fear, past experiences, or simply unfamiliarity with the label of the church - a tent revival provides an open, accessible, low pressure atmosphere for them.
  2. Expect Miracles
Some will come because they are hungry for a miracle, or they want to witness one firsthand. The atmosphere of faith and expectation leads to powerful encounters with God.
  3. A Diverse Audience
Unlike typical outreach events like block parties, people from all demographics will attend. The tent revival attracts everyone—from young to old, single to married, rich to poor, and people from every walk of life.
  4. Cross-Denominational Appeal
You’ll also see people who attend and even lead other denominations. The unique nature of the event breaks denominational barriers and draws those who would never otherwise try your church.
  5. Low-Intimidation, High Curiosity, Explosive Intensity
The revival atmosphere is non-threatening and inviting, allowing people to come with genuine curiosity about this national revival movement stopping in their county. The openness fosters a broad audience seeking deeper experiences with God.
  6. True Transformation
People who come with hunger for God and leave with a genuine conversion are much easier to retain than those attracted by giveaways or surface-level programs. This is advertised only on the basis of spiritual change and experience—no giveaways or misrepresentations needed.
  7. An Overflow of Guests
There’s such a buzz around tent revivals that it’s common for the crowd to outgrow the saints by the end of the event. These revivals have a momentum of their own—people bring others, local reporters often show up, and the result is a powerful, growing movement.

This is the event for churches that are determined to grow, hungry for a genuine move of God, and ready to see an awakening in their region. We've seen people from all walks of life—doctors, lawyers, business owners, denominational pastors, mayors, and even addicts—experience life-changing encounters with Jesus.

If your church is eager to see harvest, this is catalyst you’ve been waiting for.

Tent revivals are major undertakings, particularly for large churches, and they take place across the country year-round, with multiple evangelists and tents. If you’re considering hosting one, here are the key questions you need to address when scheduling your event:

  1. When is the weather most favorable?
Weather plays a critical role, and the most important factor to consider is wind. Wind can cancel a tent revival outright, so it’s essential to plan for a time of year when the likelihood of strong winds and storms are minimal. Avoiding this unpredictable element is crucial for a successful event.
  2. What is the ideal evening temperature? What is the revival schedule?
Tent revivals are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at 7:00 p.m., with no other sunday services scheduled. So, it’s important to choose a time when the evening temperature (7 - 9pm) isn’t too hot or too cold. Consider local climate patterns to find a window that will create the most comfortable experience for your attendees.
  3. When do we have a team in your area?
It’s highly costly to transport a tent and all the necessary equipment across the country, especially for large events. We need to schedule the revival for a time when we already have an appropriate-sized tent and evangelistic team in your region. This minimizes costs and maximizes our scheduling efficiency.
  4. When can your senior pastor & leadership be fully available?
This is perhaps the most important question to consider. The senior pastor plays a pivotal role in preaching a church into revival, promoting the upcoming tent revival, leading altar training, pushing for outreach attendance, and inspiring a deeper hunger for God in the months leading up to the revival. It’s essential to schedule the event when the pastor is available to give his full attention to the revival. The church should clear its calendar of all other programs if they want to have a breakthrough revival by the hundreds. No other events or distractions should compete for focus in the months leading to the revival. Outreach, prayer, training, and promotional efforts must take center stage for all leaders and departments.

Selecting the right location for your tent revival is crucial for the success of the event. Several key factors need to be considered:

  1. Tent Size and Congregation Size
The first step is determining the size of the tent you’ll need. To do this, we need an accurate estimate of how many people your church has in attendance on an average Sunday. Don’t worry—we always bring a tent that’s larger than necessary. However, a misunderstanding of your congregation’s size can lead to embarassing issues for your church and event. So, once we have this information, we will select the proper tent size to ensure comfort for all attendees and the right amount of room for visitors.
  2. Choosing the Right Location
Next, we need to find the ideal location for the event. Some churches have large fields on-site, while others might benefit from hosting the event off-site for greater visibility. Both options have pros and cons:
    • Off-site events often have higher visibility, drawing in more people from the surrounding area. However, the lack of on-site utilities can increase the cost of renting necessary equipment, and being disconnected from the church can reduce retention.
    • On-site events might attract slightly fewer visitors but tend to be more cost-effective due to proximity to the church and see better retention, as the church community is more directly involved. So these are really net neutral.

  1. Utility Safety
It's essential to ensure there are no utilities beneath the ground where the tent will be set up. We use iron stakes to secure the tent, and these are driven deep into the ground. To avoid any potential hazards, you’ll need to contact a local service like “Call Before You Dig” to confirm there are no underground utilities in the area where we plan to set up. We can give you the tent dimension in advance for you to flag and check with the city.
  2. Permit Requirements
Lastly, it’s important to check if any permits are required for the event. In most cities, no permits are needed when the event is held on church property, since there is no alcohol, food service, open flames, or late night sound under the tent. While we typically wrap up events by 9 p.m., it’s always a good idea to verify if any permits or special permissions are necessary.
